D, E, F, G continues a series of artist’s books which probe and question the form and structure of the book through the process of graphic design. Four discrete books, D, E, F and G, are combined into one using over-printing: the layout of book E is printed on top of book D and book G is printed over book F. These two overprinted books are then presented back to front so that the book effectively has two front covers with their back pages meeting in the centre.

Joe Gilmore is a graphic designer based in York (UK). He designs books, exhibition catalogues, music packaging, identities and websites for artists, musicians, galleries and cultural institutions.

In addition to commercial work, he initiates and produces independent curatorial, artistic and research projects which focus on typography, the image archive, the artist's book, publishing, audio art and graphic design.
